For eagle eyed readers that is not a typo in the title. The 5-star competition has had to be downgraded to a 4-star competition. Carl Hester and two other riders had not achieved the qualification for a 5-star of competing in two CDIs with a score of at least 64%. Carl has only had Wie Atlantico on his yard for a few weeks and believed that because he had been invited to the competition the qualification requirements had been waived. The solution that was agreed with all competitors was to downgrade the competition from a 5-star to a 4-star to allow all competitors to compete.
In the Grand Prix Carl and Wie Atlatico scored 69.979% and came 8th. A fantastic result for a partnership that have only been together for a few weeks.
Charlotte Dujardin riding Valegro, in this case a long standing partnership that are strong contenders to compete at the London Olympics, scored 78.468%.
An excellent score but not quite good enough to beat Steffen Peters riding Ravel who scored 81.468%. Charlotte therefore had to settle for 2nd Place in the Grand Prix.
I look forward to seeing the result for the Grand Prix Freestyle. Charlotte and Valegro have obviously settled into the Miami sunshine and hopefully will improve on their results. Good Luck !
