I attended the Stallion Parade at Hartpury last Saturday. I was not sure what to expect as I have never attended a Stallion Parade before … but I have to be honest I enjoyed it even though I don’t have a mare or any plans to breed !
For anybody who, like me, has not attended a Stallion Parade before the format of the day is that each stallion is given around 5 minutes to do a brief display. The day is split into 3 sections Show Jumpers, Eventers and Dressage. The Show Jumpers and the Eventers have some show jumps & a few brush jumps in the arena and Dressage horses can do a Freestyle to music. Most horses are ridden but a few are shown in hand with some very fit riders running with the horses fast enough to show a nice extended trot
The format of the day is therefore quite fast moving and with lots of big name riders it is an very entertaining way to spend a Saturday.
I arrived at Hartpury in time to see a few of the Eventers, including Ollie Townend riding Honour Cruise and all of the Dressage horses. One of the first Eventers that I saw was Woodlander Wesuvio and I am pretty sure that the commentator said Michael Eilberg was riding. Obviously, I know Michael is a very good dressage rider but he did a very good job over the show jumps as well. The first horse in the video is Michael riding Woodlander Wusuvio.
The format of the day meant that I was able to record a lot of good horses being ridden by top class riders. I enjoyed editing this video because I had a lot of excellent video clips which I really enjoyed putting together with a couple of good music tracks .. I hope you enjoy it …
